God's Compassion- What Does it Look Like?

Well, today is the first time in a long time I have felt the need to blog or taken the time.  But God spoke to me this morning about his compassion and I wanted to share it with anyone that might need to hear it.  I will keep to the point and leave out all the details of how it came about.  Just know I am a mom and sometimes have very little if no quiet time. I am just like the rest of you. Just felt like saying that because sometimes I think that when we share a God moment the person we are telling is saying wow, good for you!  Glad you have a connection...I am doing good to make it thru the day with a five minute devotion if that and they feel inferior...and I want you to know I am right there with you.  We are moms and that's how we roll! ;)

So I read Psalms 116 and really read it this morning and thought why is this not underlined it is great stuff!!!!!  So as I am rereading it I start writing down parts that I want to know more about.

1)  God's Compassion-What does it look like?

2)  Who are the simple hearted

3) How he saves us when we are in need

4)  How we should rest in the LORD

5) Our Deliverance

6)  How can we repay God

7)  We have been Freed!

8)  Fulfilling our vows to the LORD

I went on to ask God some questions and then I looked back at #1.  God's Compassion- What does it look like?  As I wrote down God, what does your compassion look like?  The morning Sun was rising shining bright into my face in the living room and these words came to me.

The bright and powerful rays of the sun.  So bright they blind us so outstretched they reach and wrap around us.  So I write... Blind us?  Wow what does that mean?  And then this is what God spoke to me.

Close your eyes and set facing the early morning sun.  What do you see?  Bright Red hues that warm you and soak into you.  The brightness that we see with eyes wide open can't be dulled with our eyes closed.  It penetrates even our closed eyes to reach deep within warming our souls.  Now close your eyes and turn away from the sun.  What do you see?  Complete darkness!  A void!  However, you can sense the light that is just to your side it is there waiting for you, you are drawn to it.

That is what God is like.  He is with us shining on us, filling us with his light blinding out the stuff that we need not worry with or paths left unseen/taken. but when we look away....He has not moved however, our view changes because we take our eyes off him.  We are turning to the darkness.  He has given us a new life in him filled with his Glory, his light that never leaves.  We leave him drawn to the world/darkness around us.  We are pulled away by busy schedules; guilt; shame; lies.  But then we realize we don't feel that warmth of his presence and all it takes for us to feel the power of his light is to pick up his word; listen to his music and there he is right where we left him ready to wrap those bright rays of light back around us.  Providing the peace and freedom he has called us to walk this earth with.

After this I called a very close and dear friend and shared with her to ask her if she had ever seen closed her eyes in the sun and if she saw red hues.  She said yes and then I read what I wrote and realized I asked a question and God took my hand wrote his words back to me!  I wept as I read them realizing that he is always there(something my head knows) but my heart is just now learning.

I hope you can bask in his light today!
Jennifer
