Ask And You Will Receive!!!
Can I start of today with a big shot of GLORY! God is so Good!
I don't know why I am so amazed other than I don't completely get it all the time and it takes little things like this to remind me how faithful and good our God is.
As some of you know I am memorizing verses to keep my focus on God. I started this challenge with my mother-in-law, Sheree, and it has been an eye opener over and over again to me. First I found that God is leading me to verses about a certain theme and for some reason they are easier to memorize because they are hitting me where I am. Imagine, God knowing where I am and what I need! (Another simple concept that leaves me speechless when I get it.) I digress. So, I have been trucking along memorizing verses and my seventh one came out with what I thought was a different theme. I had understood that the verses up until this point were about changing my focus from worldly possessions and money to focusing on God. Then I felt led for verse 7 to be James 1:5-6. Asking for wisdom and not doubting when God gives you that wisdom. So I think okay so have I gotten all I need about changing my focus and now I need to be more discerning?
Are you with me so far, because here is the part that has blown me away.....James 1:5-6 was not about changing the direction of the lesson I am learning about focus it was about what I am walking through this very moment! God knew that I was going to fast and ask for direction and then once I got it decide that maybe the way it was given....details weren't important. BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was very important and within two days that verse is alive for me! I get it now! When you ask and God give you something generously don't doubt for one moment that the details he provides aren't exactly what he wants you to do! God even took me to the Old Testament and showed me in the first four chapters of Leviticus what he means by he gives us details so we will follow them. The first four chapters of Leviticus are about the offerings and how they would be prepared....down to the way the blood would be taken care of or the way the birds would be handled. (If you have ever hunted or had to clean a bird....you know that is some detail!)
I am just amazed to see God's hand directing me and guiding me even after I messed up in my mind what he told me to do. How awesome!
